About the Uncommons: Directions & Parking

The Uncommons is in southwest Las Vegas, across from Durango Casino & Resort. The walkable 40-acre campus has restaurants, lifestyle brands, office spaces, and apartments in the works.

Uncommons Address:
6880 Helen Toland St
Las Vegas, NV 89113 (map)

Parking at Uncommons is easy. Their three large garages offer plenty of free parking for the first two hours. Each additional hour costs $3, up to a maximum of $15/day. There is also free street parking right now.

The Best Places to Eat and Drink at Uncommons Las Vegas

Here are our favorite spots so far. What have you been to at the Uncommons, and what else do we need to check out?

1. Enjoy Ice Cream at Salt & Straw

6815 Tom Rodriguez St suite 120, Las Vegas, NV 89113, map

We first had Salt & Straw in Portland. At the time, it was a local favorite. Since then, they’ve expanded to multiple cities, including Las Vegas. After meeting Tyler, their chief ice cream maker, and seeing his passion for ice cream, I can’t help but root for them. They always have their classic flavors and rotating flavors. My favorite has been the Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper. Meanwhile, Jacob likes to try something new every time, and this time he tried the Passionfruit Yuzu Mochi Donuts & Whey Curd.

2. Try The World-Famous Sandwich at All’Antico Vinaio

8533 Rozita Lee Ave Suite 100, Las Vegas, NV 89113, map

All’Antico Vinaio, a Florentine sandwich shop, has been hailed as ‘the world’s best sandwich’ by Saveur magazine. We couldn’t resist trying La Favolosa, the sandwich that put the shop on the map, and La Summer, another popular choice.

The sandwiches are HUGE, and one is enough to share, or you can save a half for later. They will also start serving breakfast sandwiches soon, which we’re excited to try!

3. Enjoy a Drink at Todo Bien

8548 Rozita Lee Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89113, map

Todo Bien is an aesthetic tiki bar I would bring friends to any day. Their expert mixologists create cocktails with tequila, mezcal, sotol, and other spirits, and they also carry a well-curated Sawmill Caguamita beer list.

If you are with a large group, they have a drinking vessel for 2-3 people (the Poquito) or one for 10-12 people (the Cazula de Barro).

4. Catch the Game at General Admission

8548 Rozita Lee Ave Suite 105, Las Vegas, NV 89113, map

This popular LA sports bar has made its way to Vegas. General Admission is the perfect place to watch a game.

We enjoyed the Mozzarella Sticks, Tokyo Tots, and Streak Frites.

5. Shop and Sip Wine at Wineaux

6887 Helen Toland St #110, Las Vegas, NV 89113, map

Wineaux is a wine market and bar, and it’s a place where you can come to nerd out about wine with the staff, who are well-versed in wine. If you’re strapped for time, you can pop in to grab a bottle, or it’s a great spot to taste a few and then select your favorite to take home.

If you want food, the Hamachi & Caviar and the Foie Parfait were delicious.

6. Have Brunch at Amari Italian Kitchen & Wine Shop

6825 Tom Rodriguez St STE 101, Las Vegas, NV 89113, map

The last spot we checked out was AMARI Italian Kitchen for brunch. I ordered the Campanelle, which our server highly recommended, and it is now my favorite pasta dish in Las Vegas. Previously, my favorite was at Esther’s Kitchen.

We also tried their breakfast pizza, which was too oily for my taste, but the dough was delicious. They use a 25-year-old yeast starter for their focaccia and pizza dough.

Local Tip: They have an extended happy hour every Sunday from 3-9 PM.

7. Try Different cuisines at The Sundry (Soon to be Stix Asia)

6840 Helen Toland St, Las Vegas, NV 89113, map

Update: Unfortunately the Sundry closed down after only a year of operation. It will become Stix Asia opening in 2026.

STIX ASIA will bring its Premier Asian Food Hall to the 18,000-square-foot venue at UnCommons in the heart of Southwest Las Vegas delivering a blend of authentic Asian street market culture, inventing dining, and design that seamlessly combines Asian tradition with modern architecture.

Each of 12 dining stalls will offer a uniquely authentic experience direct from regions throughout Asia, taking diners through an immersive cultural journey to the depths of among them Michelin-recognized talents.

5 Best Things to Eat & Drink at Foodieland Night Market

We went to the Las Vegas Foodieland Night Market with a group of four and tried nine different dishes over 2.5 hours (check out the reel here). Keep in mind not all vendors are at each location.

1. Honey Cone, Hawaiian Honey Cones

These tasty J-shaped cones are filled with soft-serve ice cream and are perfect when it’s warm out.

hawaiian honey cones

2. Spiral Potato on a Stick

This was at the top of our list when we got to Foodieland Night Market. What’s not to love about fried potatoes? We stopped at the first spot we saw, and ours was slightly over-fried, but it depends on who’s making them. We later realized several other vendors sold the swirly potatoes, too, so take a lap first.

3. Dumpling Sampler, The Drunken Dumpling

The dumpling sampler included different types of dumplings and came in a cute bamboo basket that we took home.

4. Black Truffle Pasta, Cheese Wheel Pasta

I’ve always wanted to try cheese wheel pasta, where they mix the pasta in a giant melty cheese wheel. They have a few different options, but we chose the Black Truffle Pasta. They pre-mix the cheese into the pasta, and the cheese wheel part looked like it was just for show, but it was still delicious.

5. Agua Fresca, Miche Fresca King

Miche Fresca King’s agua frescas were perfect after snacking all day. I got the Strawberry, and Jacob got Mango. They were bigger than I thought, so we could have easily shared one.

BONUS: Spicy Salmon Bomb, Antidote

We’ve been wanting to try these from a local Las Vegas food truck so we were excited to see them at the Foodieland Night Market. They were pricey but our favorite savory food. If they aren’t at the location you visit, check them out when you visit Las Vegas.

Essential Tips for Foodieland Night Market

  • Buy tickets online – they do not sell tickets at the door at their events. Save money by getting early bird tickets.
  • Arrive early to avoid the long lines. We went right when they opened Saturday. Lines got exponentially longer within the 2-3 hours we were there.
  • Wear comfortable shoes since you’ll be standing a lot. There are some tables and chairs, but we found ourselves standing or Asian squatting most of the time.
  • Check the event directory and list spots you want to try. Lines are long, so you want to optimize your time.
  • Bring cash if you don’t want to limit your options. All the spots we went to took credit cards, but it’s better to be safe.
  • Be ready to spend. Most of the dishes pricier than we expected, between $15-30.
  • Bring Friends and Come hungry because the portions are big, not bite-sized. We went with a group of four to share dishes and try more food.
  • Divide and conquer if you are there with friends. Then find a meeting spot to bring the food together and share. Otherwise, you’ll be spending a lot of time in lines.
  • Check the weather and dress appropriately. Layer up if you go later in the day.
  • Backpacks are not allowed. Handbags, diaper bags, and strollers are permitted. A lunchbox purse would have been perfect for any leftover food.
  • Apply sunblock and wear a hat if you are attending during the day. There’s not much shade.
  • If the line is short, then get the food right away. We made the mistake of saying, “We’ll come back later.” When we did, the line was so long that we didn’t get to try some of the food we wanted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the largest night market in USA?

The largest night market in the USA is the 626 Night Market, which is located in Arcadia, California. The 626 Night Market is a popular summer night market that takes place in Southern California’s San Gabriel Valley, known for its diverse Asian-American community. It features a sprawling, vibrant atmosphere with hundreds of food, merchandise, and entertainment vendors catering to a diverse range of tastes and interests.

What is the meaning of night market?

A night market typically refers to an outdoor market that operates during the evening and into the late night hours. It is a popular cultural phenomenon in many countries and regions around the world, where vendors set up stalls or booths along streets, plazas, or designated areas, and sell a variety of goods, particularly food, snacks, and beverages. Night markets are known for their vibrant atmosphere, bustling crowds, and unique offerings.

What is the best night market in the world?

It’s hard to nail down the best one, but here are a few that are worth checking out.

  1. Shilin Night Market (Taipei, Taiwan) – One of the most famous night markets in Taipei, known for its diverse street food options, bustling crowds, and lively atmosphere.
  2. Marrakech Night Market (Marrakech, Morocco) – The Jardin Jnan Sbil and Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech come alive at night with local vendors selling delicious Moroccan street food, traditional crafts, and live music performances.
  3. Temple Street Night Market (Hong Kong, China) – A vibrant and iconic night market in Hong Kong known for its bustling streets, street food, fortune tellers, and affordable clothing and electronics.
  4. Myeongdong Night Market (Seoul, South Korea) – A popular night market in Seoul, known for its trendy fashion, beauty products, and a wide range of Korean street food.
  5. Mercado San Miguel (Madrid, Spain) – Although not a traditional night market, this historic covered market in Madrid comes alive at night with tapas bars, serving up delicious Spanish cuisine and drinks.

Is foodieland worth checking out?

It’s overpriced, and we usually expect more gimmicky foods over the best foods from each spot. But it’s worth checking out once if you want to go for the atmosphere and try many new foods you’ve never tried before. Jacob and I probably wouldn’t go by ourselves, but it’s not bad with a group of friends and getting to share a bunch of dishes.

Are you looking for a culinary adventure? Do you love trying out new dishes? What foods do you want to try most at Foodieland Night Market?

Visiting the LINQ Promenade? Don’t miss these things to do!

“Hooooly…..,” I exclaimed. Once we arrived on the 12th floor, it felt significantly higher than when we were looking up at the zipliners from the ground. It was too late to turn back. In mere moments, we were strapped in and ready to fly through the LINQ promenade.

We’ve been plenty of times over the years, but it was our first time on the Fly LINQ. On our recent visit, we got to see all the newest restaurants and updates to put together our current favorite things to do at the LINQ promenade.

TLDR

📍 Location – The LINQ Promenade is a lively, open-air entertainment district located in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, nestled between The LINQ Hotel and the Flamingo Hotel. It’s a must-visit destination offering a diverse mix of attractions, including the towering High Roller observation wheel, Fly LINQ zipline, a variety of restaurants, shops, and live entertainment venues.

🛏 Where to Stay

About The Linq Promenade

When we lived in Vegas back in 2013, the LINQ Promenade was brand new and the most local hang-out on the Strip. We locals don’t visit the Strip much, but at the time most visitors didn’t know about it yet.

Since then, it’s changed a lot. They’ve added many attractions while others have closed (RIP Polaroid Museum and Sprinkles Cupcake ATM). Now, it draws a much larger crowd, mostly tourists.

With 35+ restaurants and shops and the iconic High Roller, it’s a wonderful outdoor spot to walk around, eat, and people watch.

The first photo on the left was when the Strip was shut down and hardly anyone was around, but as you can see on the right, the crowds are already coming back.

7 Top Things to Do at the LINQ Promenade

1. High Roller →

Tickets Starting at $29

It’s hard to miss this towering observation wheel since it’s a major part of the Las Vegas cityscape. You can do the standard 30-minute ride to enjoy 360 views of the Strip, do a happy half-hour (our favorite), or rent an entire cabin to yourself for a romantic date. Be sure to read our High Roller guide and be sure to book your tickets here in advance.

Local Tip: Check for deals.

2. Fly Linq Zipline

Tickets Starting at $49

Flying through the air 1,121 feet above the promenade was a lot of fun! Being the only zipline on the Strip, it’s truly a unique experience and a nice change from the usual casinos.

From below, it doesn’t seem very high, but we were surprised by how high it felt up top.

After checking in, they bring you to the top floor where they strap you in. There’s a blue bag that you can put your belongings in. It fit our 10L Sling, but not much beyond that. If you have a bigger bag, they can send it down to the landing point in their cargo cart.

Local Tip: If you’re wearing sandals or flip-flops, they will ask you to take them off and place them in the bag.

3. Minus5 IceBar in Las Vegas

Prices starting at $24

We bundled up in (faux) fur coats and hats and entered our very own winter wonderland in the middle of the Las Vegas desert.  When the temperatures are blistering, the Minus 5 ICEBAR is the perfect way to cool down. We visited in the winter, and they provided all the gear to stay warm too.

They serve all their drinks in cups made of ice, and we got to try their Northern Lights cocktail.

If you plan on drinking, buy the upgraded package because you get a discount when you pre-purchase them.

Also, even though it’s a bar, it is kid-friendly! They have mocktails for anyone underage, but stop letting kids in after 9 (sometimes a bit before depending on the crowd inside).

Local Tip: On the weekends, waits can be up to 3+ hours (especially with the current capacity limits). To avoid crowds, visit during the week or before 8 pm.

See More: 25 Fun Indoor Activities in Las Vegas for Scorching Hot Summers

Bonus: Dreambox360

Prices starting at $21

Located right next to Minus 5 ICEBAR is the brand new DREAMBOX 360. It is a projector experience that also uses additional smoke and features to make it feel more immersive.

Unlike the other projection experiences in Vegas, the screens are not floor-to-ceiling and the room is much smaller, but if you plan to visit the Minus 5 ICEBAR, this is an easy add-on. They even sell bundles that include both experiences and a cocktail in each spot.

We saw the Christmas Film and The Weekend Trip. We much preferred The Weekend Trip. The Eternity Jumpscare is the most popular, but since we don’t like scary things, we avoided that one.

4. Brooklyn Bowl →

Ticket Prices Vary

Whether you’re into bowling, concerts, food + drinks, or all of the above, Brooklyn Bowl is an awesome spot that gives you plenty of options.

On most nights, you can walk in to go bowling (21+ after 8PM) or enjoy their food and drinks, but the best part of Brooklyn Bowl are the special events and concerts. They have themed nights and all types of bands coming through.

You can get general admission tickets giving you access to the main floor, or reserve a lane and get access to a better vantage point and more space. We went to a show, got to bowl, and roam around when we wanted. Plus they have the concert showing on the screen and we have space to eat and drink. We can’t wait to see more shows here!

Local Tip:  Locals get free parking the night of the show at any Caesars Self-Parking locations. You can find the Parking Validation Machine inside the Retail Store.

5. Las Vegas VR Adventures

Prices starting at $20

If you’ve been wanting to try VR, check out VR Adventures. There are 5 different experiences or adventures that you can take, including a haunted elevator, air balloon trip around the world, and iconic roller coasters. Along with responsive seats, each adventure brings you to a different world you can see with your friends.

Jacob got inside the haunted elevator. I went inside to film his reactions, but since I can’t even do scary movies, even the music was creeping me out. I did the Big Apple roller coaster ride, which was so fun to virtually see the Las Vegas Strip while at the Las Vegas Strip (so meta). We haven’t tried the real one yet, but now we’ll have to check it out to compare.

Local Tip: Additional adventures are half off after your first one.

6. Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy CLub →

Prices Vary

If you love comedy, then you should check out the upcoming schedule at Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club. They have guests and regulars coming through all the time. Check the upcoming schedule and get tickets here.

7. Mat Franco Magic Reinvented Nightly →

The LINQ | 3535 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109, map

This one is technically inside the Linq, but it is worth putting on the list. Mat Franco blew us away both times we’ve seen him! He refashioned the show during lockdown, and now it’s pure magic with beautiful stage design. It’s great for the entire family and we love that he does some illusions specific to the night you attend.

The Best Restaurants at the Linq Promenade

While exploring the LINQ Promenade, there are plenty of spots for you to grab a bite. Here are a few of our favorites.

I Love Sugar

If you love sugar, this is the place to go. Sour candy and gummy bears are my guilty pleasure (maybe I don’t feel all that guilty). Besides being a massive candy shop, to make it a truly Vegas experience, try a candy martini at the Candy Martini Bar.

They make extremely photogenic candy martinis and other drinks that have gone viral on TikTok. The drinks start at $19, and you better believe they get you tipsy. My favorite was the giant Gummy Bear martini.

Local Tip: Waits are up to 3-4 hrs on the weekend. Make a reservation on Open Table to save time.

Gordon Ramsay Fish and CHips

Whether you want the classic fish and chips, or prefer shrimp, chicken, or sausage, there’s something tasty for everyone. There’s even a secret combo! If you ask for the ‘G Spot’ you’ll get fish, chicken, and shrimp together.

Boss Cafe

This one is technically inside the LINQ but it’s so good we had to include it. The Mutz is so delicious and the Jersey Roast Beef is our favorite sandwich in Vegas.

Favorite Bistro

Favorite Bistro has the vibes of a Paris cafe serving French fare with an American flair. It’s the first U.S. location from restaurateurs Thierry Bourdoncle and Ariane de Senneville. Don’t miss their delicious and beautiful desserts too.

More Places to Eat

Shopping at the LINQ Promenade

Besides the activities and restaurants, there are plenty of shops for you to browse at the LINQ Promenade. To help you plan, here is a list:

  • Giftology – Souvenir shop.
  • The Hat Loft – Premier hat shop.
  • Harley Davidson – Shop for products made by this iconic motorcycle brand.
  • Havaianas – Known as the most popular flip flop brand in the world with tons of options.

Directions and Parking at the LINQ Promenade

The LINQ Promenade’s official address is 3545 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109 (map). If you are on the strip, make your way towards the LINQ. Between The LINQ and Margaritaville, you’ll find the Strip entrance to the Promenade.

If you are driving, map your way to the High Roller: 3545 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109 (map). Just behind the giant wheel, is a large parking lot. The fees are as follows:

  • 1st Hour – FREE
  • 1-4 Hours – $12
  • 4-12 Hours – $15
  • Over 24 Hour – $15 per day

If you’re looking for free parking, there are three ways to park for free.

  • Hotel Guests park for free
  • Locals park for free up to 3 hrs (with a valid Nevada driver’s license)
  • Platinum, Diamond & Seven Stars members park for free

Local Tip: To get free parking with your NV driver’s license, take a ticket when you arrive. When you’re leaving, insert the ticket then scan the back of your license.

Essential Tips

  • Remember to always give yourself 10-15 extra minutes when walking around the strip or getting there from parking. Things always are farther than you anticipate.
  • Don’t forget sunblock since you’ll be spending time outside.
  • Weekends get very crowded so if you can visit during the week, you’ll deal with fewer people around.
  • They have seasonal decor at the LINQ Promenade. We loved checking it out during the holidays.

There are hundreds of Black owned restaurants in Atlanta GA, our hometown. While we are fortunate to live in the heart of the city, we’ve put together a list of some of our favorite restaurants and cafes that we frequent in support of our Black brothers and sisters (you can also see our list for Las Vegas).

Many minority-owned businesses were denied funds from the federal paycheck protection program during the pandemic. You can help by becoming patrons at these spots.

Essential Tips

  • Call ahead before visiting any of these spots. We made notes where we could but hours may still change day-to-day. Some restaurants told us they close early if there isn’t enough business that day. Plus, some places aren’t open for dine-in quite yet.
  • Since we’re still in this pandemic, it’s important to wash your hands thoroughly, wear masks, and try your best to socially distance while dining in.

Whether you’re a local or are visiting, here is a list of black owned restaurants in Las Vegas where you can show your support.

This is just one of many ways you can stand with the Black community, and today on Local Adventurer, we’re highlighting local Black-owned restaurants in Las Vegas (you can also see our post for Atlanta).

We’ve been asking ourselves how we can be better allies. Earlier this week, we tried to look online to see if there was a good resource to share but didn’t find anything up to date, comprehensive, or easy to use, so we decided to do a little leg work and call to make sure they’re all open.

Essential Tips

  • Call ahead before visiting any of these spots. We made notes where we could but hours may still change day-to-day. Some restaurants told us they close early if there isn’t enough business that day. Plus, a few places aren’t open for dine-in yet.
  • Masks are recommended when visiting these spots. When we visited one restaurant, they required a mask to enter. They sold them there, but it’s always good to have your own.
  • Help us keep the list up-to-date. If you find out any info that we can add, or include any additional restaurants, email us at hello@localadventurer.com.
Some are posting on social media. Some are protesting in the streets. Some are donating silently. Some are educating themselves. Some are having tough conversations with friends & family. A revolution has many lanes. Be kind to yourself and to others who are traveling in the same direction. Just keep your foot on the gas. - via octaviaspencer via calirock.

Visiting NYC? Don’t miss these amazing places to eat.

Before our first visit to NYC, we asked for recommendations from our friends who are just as crazy about food as we are. By nature, I’m a maximizer. I’ll cross-reference 100 different articles with all my friends’ recommendations and still wonder if better options exist.

It doesn’t help that a city like NYC also has an unending list of options with new restaurants popping up every week and old ones closing from ridiculous rent. Luckily, now that we live in NYC, we can dedicate more time to filling our bellies with as many meals as possible. So far, we’ve tried all the three starred Michelin restaurants as well as many of the cheapest eats in the city.

Ultimate NYC Food Bucket List (99 Places to Eat in NYC)

On our first foodcation, we had a very ambitious list we wanted to get through in 5 days. We returned home many pounds heavier, which I think we can say was a success. On the other hand, we lost our DSLR with most our NYC photos (it got lifted by a lyft driver). RIP to the original photos and places we won’t return to, but I’m glad I happened to take some on my phone to share.

Brooklyn

  1. Aska (Williamsburg, 💰💰💰💰, Scandinavian) – Michelin 2 Star 2022, Bon Appetit Top 50 Best New Restaurants 2017
  2.  Bien Cuit (Cobble Hill/Boerum Hill + Midtown East, 💰💰, Bakery/French) – Zachary Golper at the Brooklyn location was a James Beard Outstanding Baker Nominee 2017.
  3.  Kitsby (Williamsburg, Desserts & Tea, 💰💰) – Cute spot for an afternoon tea set.
  4.  Di Fara Pizza (Midwood, Pizza, 💰💰) – a 52-year-old institution with pizza legend Dom DeMarco, mentioned by many friends and is also recommended by Timeout and Thrillist.
  5.  Frankies 457 Spuntino (Carroll Gardens, 💰, Bar/Italian) – Homey setting, handmade pastas. Named as a neighborhood Italian staple by Eater.
  6.  Hart’s Restaurant (Clinton Hill/Bed-Stuy, New American, 💰💰💰) – Bon Appetit’s Best #5 New Restaurants 2017
  7.  L’industrie Pizzeria (Williamsburg, 💰, Pizza) – on the yelp100 list in 2017.
  8.  Lilia (Williamsburg North, 💰💰💰, Italian/Cocktails) – Missy Robbins was a JBF Best Chef NYC Nominee 2017, Eater’s 38 Essential NY Restaurants. Try the burrata sandwich
  9.  Lucali (Carroll Gardens, 💰💰, Pizza) – The best pizza we’ve had in town. Had to wait outside for hours in the cold to get in but it was worth it.
  10.  Maison Premiere (Williamsburg South, 💰💰💰, Seafood/Bar) – JBF Outstanding Bar Program 2016
  11.  Mile End Delicatessen (Boerum Hill + Various, 💰💰, Sandwiches) – On the Michelin Guide. The Smoked Meat sandwich is one of NY’s best sandwiches according to CNN, and the Fried Green Tomato is one of Eater’s 15 Best NY Sandwiches. Try the smoked meat sandwich, the fried green tomato sandwich, or the Reuben.
  12.  St Anselm (Williamsburg North, 💰💰💰, New American/Wine Bar/Steakhouse) – On eater’s essential NY restaurants for Fall 2017. Order the NY Strip or ax handle rib-eye.
  13.  L&B Spumoni Gardens (Gravesend, 💰, Pizza/Italian) – On the Thrillist and timeout’s NYC bucket list. Try the Sicilian square pizza and the rainbow spumoni for dessert.
  14.  La Vara (Cobble Hill, 💰💰💰, Spanish, ) – Eater’s 38 Essential NY Restaurants. The Molletes sandwich is one of Eater’s 15 best NY sandwiches.
  15.  Olmsted (Prospect Heights, 💰💰💰, New American) – James Beard Best New Restaurant Nominee 2017, Bon Appetit Best New Restaurants 2017, Eater’s 38 Essential NY Restaurants, on the Michelin Guide – Try the crab rangoon, carrot crepe, and watermelon sushi.
  16.  Peter Luger (Williamsburg, 💰💰💰💰, Steak) – It’s an NY namesake, and you should try it at least once. A lot of people say it’s the best steak in the city others think it’s a waste of money. A group of us went for my birthday and tried just about everything. The burger was better than the steak, but you can only get it at lunch. Bacon was really thick like ham, and we like ours crispy. Everyone raves about the creamed spinach, but I’ve never been a fan, and this one did not change my mind.
  17.  Roberta’s Pizza (Bushwick + Midtown East, 💰💰, Pizza/Italian) – Haven’t heard of another pizza joint in NYC mentioned more than Roberta’s. We ordered the Margherita pizza and romaine salad. It was good, but I personally wouldn’t go out of the way for it since there’s great pizza in the city too. It’s also been mentioned on businessinsiderbuzzfeedthrillisttimeout, Eater’s Essential 38 Restaurants to eat in America in 2016, and eater’s essential NY restaurants in Fall of 2017, and on the Michelin guide.
  18.  Traif (Williamsburg, 💰💰💰, New American/Tapas)

Chinatown

  1.  Alimama (💰💰, Desserts) – Mochi donuts and the best cream puffs we’ve had. On our recent NYC trip, this was the most memorable thing we ate.
  2.  Joe’s Shanghai (💰💰, Seafood / Noodles) – Known for their soup dumplings
  3. Keki Modern Cakes (Chinatown, 💰💰, Desserts) – These fluffy and jiggly cheesecakes are so good! We’ve only had the Ube one and it’s very light with a hint of cheesecake.
  4.  Shanghai 21 (💰💰, Chinese) – Shanghai-style soup dumplings, pan-fried dumplings, and more. The crab and pork soup dumplings are my favorite.
  5.  Taiwan Pork Chop House (💰, Taiwanese) – the food is so cheap here! Oddly enough, the popcorn chicken and chicken over rice were much better than the pork. Also, it’s on the famous Doyers st, so don’t forget to stop for some photos.

East Village

  1.  Hanoi House (Alphabet City, 💰💰, Vietnamese) – one of Eater’s 38 Essential NY Restaurants. They have a great beef pho.
  2.  Hearth (East Village, 💰💰💰, New American/Italian/Breakfast/Brunch) – Marco Canora won the James Beard Best Award for Best Chef in NYC 2017
  3. LoveMama (East Village, 💰💰, Thai/Malaysian/Vietnamese) – Popular local spot.
  4.  Luke’s Lobster (East Village + Multiple Locations, 💰💰, Seafood) – They get daily shipments from Maine. The Lobster Roll is one of CNN best NY sandwiches and the Lobster Grilled Cheese Sandwich is one of Eater’s 15 Best NY Sandwiches. I wasn’t the biggest fan of it of the seasoning, but the lobster itself was good.
  5.  Momofuku Noodle Bar (💰💰, Ramen/New American) – I always hear mixed reviews about this, and while I didn’t love the ramen, the other dishes like their chilled spicy noodles were good. Could I make them better at home? Probably. Awards: JBF Outstanding Restaurant Nominee 2017, one of Eater’s 38 Essential Restaurants in America (2016) and NYC (Fall 2017), Michelin guide, timeout.
  6.  CheLi (East Village, 💰💰, Chinese) – Puer tea soaked rice with sea urchin. Talk about indulgence! Featured on Eater’s 30 Restaurants That Define the East Village.
  7.  Somtum Der (Alphabet City, 💰💰, Thai) – found on the Michelin guide. Normally, we like trying new spots, but everything we order here has been so good that we kept coming back once a week to try new things on the menu.
  8.  Sunny & Annie’s Deli (💰, Sandwiches) – Try the pho #1 sandwich here. It’s the strangest thing how a sandwich can satisfy my craving for a bowl of noodle soup, but it does. The first few bites were so confusing, but by the end, I wanted another. I ended up being so addicted to these that a friend of mine vacuum sealed a bunch and sent them to me.

  2.  Eataly (Italian/Grocery, 💰💰) – There are multiple food stalls. You should try the nutella crepe bar, pasta at La Pizza and La Pasta, the roast beef sandwich at La Rosticceria. You can also make a reservation at the rooftop restaurant and microbrewery La Birreria.
  3.  Eleven Madison Park (New American/French, 💰💰💰💰) – Since we visited they changed their menu to be completely plant-based. We haven’t decided if that’s worth another visit or not although we’ve had a friend go who said it was still a great experience. Other Press: #1 on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants (2017), Business Insider’s #2 Best Restaurant in America (2017), yelp100 (2014, 2016). Note: since our visit, they now only serve vegetarian dishes.

  4.  Willow (💰💰, Vegan, New American) – Vegan bistro serving up plant-based American comfort food. Try their vegan mac and cheese.

Little Italy + Nolita

  1.  Eileen’s Special Cheesecake (Nolita, Cheesecake, 💰) – so fluffy and delicious. My fave is the plain, and Jacob loved the marbled one.
  2.  Estela (Nolita/NoHo, New American/Brunch, 💰💰💰) – Ignacio Mattos was a JBF Best Chef NYC Nominee 2017, Michelin 1 star 2022.
  3.  Nyona (Little Italy + others had bad reviews, Asian Fusion, 💰💰) – on the Michelin guide. The food we tried was just okay, but I couldn’t get over how affordable it was. Maybe we need to go back and try some more dishes
  4. Rubirosa (Pizza, 💰💰) – People love this spot but we thought it was just okay
  5.  Taiyaki NYC (Little Italy, Desserts/Ice Cream, 💰) – those popular fish cake ice creams on ig.

Lower East Side (LES)

  1.  Clinton Street Baking Company (Bakeries / Breakfast, 💰💰) –  Popular spot with long waits. It was good, but I wouldn’t wait long for it.
  2.  Doughnut Plant (Multiple Locations, Donuts, 💰💰) – Don’t want to overhype it, but these are my favorite doughnuts on the east coast. The creme brulee doughnut is their top seller, but I loved the coconut creme best. Even if you don’t like coconut, this might convert you.
  3.  Sam’s Fried Ice Cream(Desserts/Ice Cream, 💰💰) – Don’t forget to try the fried Oreos.
  4.  Katz’s Delicatessen (LES, Deli/Sandwiches, 💰💰) – We still haven’t tried it because I’m intimidated by the lines, but we’ll eventually get around to it. It is one of Eater’s 38 Essential NY Restaurants, and also recommended by cnnthrillisttimeout, Michelin guide. There are only a few places left in NYC you can get a traditional smoky pastrami sandwich. The wait is horrendous, but go and grab a ticket, since it’s an experience in and of itself. Fun Fact – they serve 10k pounds of pastrami, 5k pounds of corned beef, 2k pounds of salami, and 12k hot dogs each week
  5.  Russ & Daughters (Also LES2, Bagels/Smokehouse/Delis/Kosher, 💰💰) – You have to go to the deli and not the cafe. It’s on thrillist and timeout‘s NYC bucket list, and on the Michelin guide. Get the bagel with the city’s best lox or get the lox alone according to CNN, and the old pickled herring.
  6.  Soft Swerve (Ice Cream, 💰) – popular ice cream spot on ig. Loved their matcha, but the ube is too pretty not to try.
  7.  Spaghetti Incident (Italian, 💰💰) – Homey, cash-only Italian pasta dishes. Known for their Sicilian-style rice balls.
  8.  Spicy Village (Chinese, 💰) – so cheap and so good! Order one of the hand-pulled noodles. We got the spicy beef dry noodles. one of Eater’s 38 Essential NY Restaurants.
  9.  Wildair (LES, New American, 💰💰💰) – Brought to you by the restauranteurs from Contra, is #8 on Bon Appetit’s Best New Restaurants (2016) and is one of Eater’s 38 Essential NY Restaurants. It’s great for small plates and natural wines.
  10.  Ye’s Apothecary (Speakeasies, Szechuan, 💰💰💰) – Speakeasy serving tapas style food in an intimate space with classic Asian decor.

Midtown East

  1. Ess-a-Bagel (Midtown East + Stuyvesant Town, Bagels, 💰) – Everyone says you have not had a real bagel until you try the ones in NYC. I’ve had two friends recommend Ess-A-Bagel, but other people say most bagel spots in NYC will have a bagel that surpasses any other bagel you’ve had. These were pretty damn good.
  2.  Nishida Sho-ten (Midtown East, Ramen, 💰💰) – our friend’s favorite ramen spot in the city. We liked the black kakuni over the white one.
  3.  Sushi Yasuda (Midtown East, Sushi, 💰💰💰) – Michelin 1 Star 2022
  4.  Valerie (Midtown East, New American, Cocktail Bar, 💰💰) – Elevated cocktails.

Midtown West

  1.  Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare (Hell’s Kitchen, Japanese, 💰💰💰💰) –  Our second favorite prefix meal in the city. Michelin 3 Star 2022, #82 on the World’s Best Restaurants, Business Insider’s #48 Best Restaurant in America (2017)
  2.  E.A.K. RAMEN and IZAkAYA by Machida Shoten (Midtown West, Ramen, 💰💰)
  3.  The Halal Guys (Multiple Locations, Middle Eastern/Food Stand, 💰) – I think it’s overhyped for what it is. Everyone claims that the best Halal Guys is still the one on 53rd and 6th. It was a great stop after drinks and a solid meal on the cheap (P.S. prices went up again though). The one right next to our apartment in LIC is pretty comparable sans the drunk crowd. Some carts have a sign for a free drink with your meal in tiny print, which they won’t give you unless you specifically ask for it. On yelp 100 for 2016. They’ve opened up locations in other cities, and so far the ones we’ve tried have been terrible.
  4.  Gabriel Kreuther (Midtown West, French, 💰💰💰💰) – Michelin 2 Star 2022, Business Insider’s #26 Best Restaurant in America in 2017.
  5.  Kwik Meal Cart (Indian/Middle Eastern, 💰) – this actually tasted way fresher and better than halal guys.
  6.  Le Bernardin (Theater District, 💰💰💰💰, French) – Michelin 3 Star 2022, #17 on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2017, Business Insider’s #3 Best Restaurant in America (2017), yelp100 (2014, 2016). It was just okay – enjoyed the other Michelin 3 star restaurants more.
  7.  Masa (Hell’s Kitchen, 💰💰💰💰, Sushi) – The best meal we’ve had in NYC and we had high expectations. It’s the most expensive meal we’ve ever paid for. I have to drag Jacob to prix fixe places and he almost always complains when the bill comes, but this one he thoroughly enjoyed. We even got to meet Chef Masa! P.S. No photos are allowed except the one at the. end with Chef Masa. Press & Awards: Michelin 3 Star 2022, Business Insider’s #17 Best Restaurant in America (2017).
  8.  The Modern (Midtown West, 💰💰💰💰, New American) – Michelin 2 Star 2022, Business Insider’s #14 Best Restaurant in America in 2017
  9.  Oceana (Theater District, Seafood, 💰💰💰) – Michelin 1 Star 2014.
  10.  Per Se (Hell’s Kitchen, 💰💰💰💰, French) – I’m a huge fan of Chef Keller’s restaurants. We went for my birthday and they added some nice personal touches. Nothing to complain about the food, but the service was weird that day, a surprise us for a 3 Michelin star place. Per Se is on every list imaginable: Michelin 3 Stars 2022, World’s Best Restaurants, Business Insider’s Best Restaurants in America, and Yelp 100 (2014, 2016).
  11.  Pure Thai Cookhouse (Theater District, Thai, 💰💰) – This is the one spot we always recommend to friends in town since it’s in Midtown and convenient to where most visitors like to stay. We usually never order pad thai, but we were told it was exceptional here. They were right! It was our second fave thing we tried, and our absolute fave was the crab and pork dry noodles.
  12.  Sullivan Street Bakery (Also Chelsea, Bakery, 💰💰) – Jim Lahey won the JBF Outstanding Baker  Award (2015), and it’s also one of Eater’s 38 Essential NY Restaurants.

Queens (QNS)

  1.  The Alcove (Woodside, Gastropub, 💰💰) – On Yelp 100 (2018). How do they have 5 stars?
  2.  Blend (LIC, Latin American, 💰💰) – Pan-Latin dishes. Try their empanada sampler paired with their classic mojito.
  3.  Casa Enrique (Long Island City (LIC), Mexican, 💰💰) – The only 1 Michelin Star in our neighborhood for 2022.
  4.  Cafe Henri (LIC, French, 💰💰) – Great for brunch in the area if you can’t be bothered to go into the city.
  5.  Chip NYC (Astoria, Bakery, 💰💰) – popular cookie place that’s similar to Levain as far as how dense the cookie is.
  6.  Hahm Ji Bach (Flushing, Korean, 💰💰) – the best Korean we’ve had in NYC (not saying too much. I thought NYC’s Korean food was supposed to be as good as LA but hasn’t been as good as I had hoped) and you have to trek far to get it. We didn’t try the samgyupsal but the galbijjim was good.
  7.  Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao (DT Flushing, Chinese, 💰💰) – Soup dumplings.
  8.  Sal, Kris, & Charlie’s Deli (Astoria, Deli/Sandwiches, 💰) – On the yelp 100 (2014, 2015, 2016, 2018). It’s my fave sandwich spot in NYC. The Soppressata on that sesame bread is so delicious.
  9.  Xi’an Famous Foods (Multiple Locations, Chinese,💰) – The original one was in the Golden Mall in Flushing but eventually closed because they outgrew it. Now they’re everywhere. You can watch them hand pull the noodles. I liked the dry noodles over the soupy ones and the burgers weren’t that good, but the Liang pi cold skin noodles and spicy cumin lamb noodles were delicious. Not a fan of the pork burger.

Upper East Side (UES)

  1.  Daniel (UES, French, 💰💰💰💰) – Ghaya Oliveira – Michelin 2 Star 2022, JBF Outstanding Pastry Chef 2017, Business Insider’s #8 Best Restaurant in America in 2017, and yelp100 for 2014 and 2016.
  2.  Ladurée Madison (Bakery, 💰💰) – Pick up some iconic macrons.
  3. Uva (Italian, 💰💰💰) – Cute Italian spot

West Village

  1.  Buvette (West Village, French, 💰💰) – Jody Williams was a JBF Best Chef NYC Nominee in 2017. Buvette is a cute French cafe that serves an amazing brunch with fresh ingredients. I ordered fresh squeezed orange juice, scones, and the special – tartinette with zucchini and goat cheese. Jacob ordered the croissants and prosciutto with eggs and toast. The croissants were so flaky and yummy. I loved the croissants over the scones, but the creme fraiche was amazing that came with the scones.
  2.  Faicco’s Italian Specialties (West Village, Italian Sandwiches, 💰💰) – get the famous and massive Italian sub. Just the meat alone had to be stacked a couple inches tall. It’s a good one to split with a friend.
  3.  Jack’s Wife Freda (SoHo + West Village, Mediterranean, 💰💰) – go for a boozy brunch, and try the prego roll is one of eaterNY’s 15 Best Sandwiches.
  4.  John’s of Bleecker Street (West Village, Pizza, 💰💰) – historic pizza joint with delicious pizza, but you can’t order them by the slice. So far it’s my favorite sit down pizza spot.
  5.  Magnolia Bakery (West Village + Various, Desserts/Bakery, 💰💰) – the other desserts weren’t great, but their banana pudding is so bomb.
  6.  Olio e Piu (West Village, Italian, 💰💰) – a local favorite with pizza and pasta.
  7.  Sushi Nakazawa (Japanese, 💰💰💰💰) – Michelin 1 star 2022. We’ve heard a lot of good things about this spot but haven’t had a chance to check it out yet.

Miscellaneous

  1.  Bar Jamon (Gramercy, Spanish/Tapas, 💰💰💰) – Great spot to hang out and have appetizers and wine. Get the Chorizo with Pickled Peppers.
  2.  The Dead Rabbit (Financial District, Cocktails, 💰💰) – JBF Outstanding Bar Program Nominee 2017 and best bar in the world by world’s 50 best bars. “Cocktail menu looks more like a graphic novel than a bar menu” – Business Insider. They have 145 different Irish whiskeys and other unique cocktails.
  3.  Dominique Ansel Bakery (South Village, Bakeries/Desserts, 💰💰) – The spot where the famous cronut was invented, but now there’s no line. We tried the DKA and cookie shots. They’re also famous for the frozen s’more, magic souffle, waffle affogato, and DDQ.
  4.  Jungsik (TriBeCa, Seafood/Korean, 💰💰💰💰) – Michelin 2 Star in 2018.

  7. Levain Bakery (Also UWS 2 + Harlem, Bakery, 💰💰) – everyone raves about the cookies here. One is good enough to share with 2-3 people. It’s so big and dense, and the texture is in between a scone and a cookie. We tried all the flavors, and the oatmeal raisin and chocolate peanut butter were our favorites.
  8.  Jean-Georges (UWS, French/New American, 💰💰💰💰) – We went for their lunch tasting menu, which was a nice way to sample their food. Michelin 2 Star 2018 2018, Business Insider’s #13 Best Restaurant in America in 2017.
  9.  Los Tacos No 1 (Meatpacking District/Chelsea + Midtown West, 💰, Tacos) – if you can’t make it out to the west coast and need a taco fix, this is probably the best in NYC we’ve tried so far and it’s inside Chelsea Market. They are on the yelp 100 (2015, 2016, 2018), and one of Eater’s 38 Essential NY Restaurants.

Map of Best Places to Eat in NYC

Honorable Mentions / Taken Off the List

  • Artichoke Basille’s Pizza –  Great fatty midnight snack that’s huge and filling. If you get the artichoke pizza, it’s like eating a creamy soup on a pizza. There’s better pizza in town, so I wouldn’t go out of my way for it, but try it if it’s convenient.
  • Her Name is Han – Korean food made for white people. We ordered the galbijjim and pork belly appetizer and both were mediocre. If you’ve never tried Korean food and you’re scared, this place might be perfect for you.
  • Marea – It’s a Michelin 2 star, but I think the service and ambiance are way better than the food.
  • Momofuku Milk Bar – The cereal milk ice cream was really gross IMO, but if you love the leftover cereal milk, this might be right up your alley.
  • Momofuku Ssam Bar – The food was good and it’s worth checking out if you’ve never had Korean food before and want something with the Momofuku name attached. It was kind of hard for us to justify paying so much, because I’ve had better in LA and I can make it better at home.
  • Cafe Lalo – The food wasn’t very special, but there’s an iconic scene here from the movie You’ve Got Mail that brings in a ton of tourists. I wouldn’t mind sitting here with a cup of coffee when it’s not crowded, but I wouldn’t order the food again.
  • Ippudo – Their pork buns were good but really pricey. And I would skip the ramen. Overall, not worth the wait when there are other options in the city.
  • Shake Shack – Now that there are locations in Atlanta and Las Vegas, I never feel the urgency to eat here. You can always grab a burger before your flight if you’re flying out of Terminal 4 of JFK, though, for a much better meal than eating the airplane food.
  • Tsurutontan Udon Noodle Brasserie, Union Square / Flatiron, $, Japanese – it wasn’t bad, but not worth the wait and not as good as the hype. Also, the bowls were too big and annoying to eat out of. My hand kept cramping up.
  • Crif Dogs – Known to be the #1 NYC Weiner. Within the restaurant there’s an old-fashioned phone booth that gets you into the most touristy speakeasy in the city, Please Don’t Tell. Call 212.614.0386 for a reservation as soon as the phone line opens at 3 PM.

Essential Tips

  • If you plan on riding the subway 13 times or more in a week, buy the 7-day unlimited.
  • If you’re in town and don’t have time to make it out, food delivery has been growing in large cities like New York, and food courier services like Postmates are popping up to fill this demand. You can even make money delivering food (so you can then go spend it on more food for yourself)!

Hungry in Asheville? Don’t miss these delicious bites.

Asheville is known for its breweries, but it’s also become a mecca for foodies. The city is growing so much (and quickly) that it’s difficult to keep up with the Asheville food scene, but we made a list of the best of the best places to eat in Asheville NC whether you’re there to explore town or experience the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Many of these restaurants have proven themselves year after year, but we’ve also sprinkled in some who are up and coming. The list has a mixture of both fancy, high-end dining and cheap eats. The best part? You can come as you are without having to worry about getting dressed up.

Visiting Greenville? Don’t miss these amazing spots to eat.

We’ve driven by Greenville several times but never felt like we had a reason to stop. But after our recent visit checking out the best places to eat in Greenville SC, we’ll definitely make it a point to swing by in the future.

It’s a short, two-hour drive from our home base in Atlanta and an easy getaway from the craziness that is ‘The A’ these days. Needless to say, we’ll be coming back after our fun food-filled weekend!

TLDR

📍 Location – Greenville, South Carolina, is in the northwestern part of the state roughly 100 miles southwest of Charlotte, NC, and 150 miles northeast of Atlanta, GA. The city is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

🍽 Where to Eat – The Trappe Door, TakoSushi, The Lazy Goat

13 Absolutely Amazing Places to Eat in Greenville SC

During our time in Greenville, we had a chance to stay at Hilton Garden Inn. When we weren’t adventuring through town, it was the perfect home base for foodies like us. We also explored the Fall for Greenville Festival and a couple of local breweries.

1. The Trappe Door

23 W Washington St, Greenville, SC 29601, map

A few of our friends recommended this Belgian joint, so we were really excited to see their booth at Fall for Greenville.

We ordered a bowl of Mussels Mariniera, a local favorite, and I honestly could have used up all of my food tickets just for these mussels. The white wine sauce was piping hot, briny and brothy, with the right amount of garlicky kick.

Local Tip: Grab a Belgian brew to pair with your meal. We’ve heard good things.

2. Smoky Dreams BBQ

3620 Pelham Rd, Greenville, SC 29615, map

Freshest meats with original homemade seasonings and sauces. Don’t skimp out on dessert! Locals love their peanut butter pie and lemon cream pie.

3. Thomas Creek Brewery

2054 Piedmont Hwy, Greenville, SC 29605, map

Thomas Creek Brewery pumps out some of the best beers I’ve ever tasted. They’re the first craft beer brewery in South Carolina and have been around for over two decades.

Hilton Garden Inn has a number of their beers on tap, and we loved the great variety of crisp brews, both seasonal and time-honored craft options. There’s also a nice food menu, but we didn’t get to partake. We’ll definitely have to come back!

Local Tip: Take the brewery tour. It only costs $5 and you get a sampling of four great beers.

Thomas Creek Brewery + 13 Incredible Places to Eat in Greenville SC

4. Yee-Haw Brewery

307 E McBee Ave, Greenville, SC 29601, map

Yee-Haw Brewery originated in Johnson City, Tenn. But, Greenvillians still consider this outpost a local hangout.

Sip through an array of beers, from a sharp Kolsch to a hoppy Dunkel. The unique names (e.g., Flirtin’ with Disaster, The Mowtivator, and Blackberry Beret) will make you want to order all of them. It’s a great spot to watch the game and enjoy late-night munchies.

Local Tip: They also have an extensive food menu. Order the beer cheese and soft pretzels. I could’ve eaten a whole plate myself.

5. The Lost Cajun

3612 Pelham Rd, Greenville, SC 29615, map

We didn’t try anything savory from The Lost Cajun, but picked up their pillowy, sugar-coated beignets. There’s a 100% chance we would eat 100 more of these next time we’re back.

Local Tip: My favorite is the gumbo sampler. I always recommend it to out-of-town visitors. – Tyler, Local Student

6. Clare’s Creamery

1635 E North St, Greenville, SC 29607map

You all know that Josh never skips out on dessert, especially if it’s gelato or ice cream. The photo below is from Luna Rosa Gelato smack dab in the middle of Main Street downtown, but they’ve closed since our visit.

Clare’s Creamery is a spot we’ve put on our list to visit next time we’re in town. Has anyone been?

Luna Rosa Greenville SC

7. Hilton Garden Inn

108 Carolina Point Pkwy, Greenville, SC 29607, map

We had a fantastic time at the Hilton Garden Inn in Greenville. We’ve stayed at Hilton Garden Inn hotels before and have always had a wonderful experience.

Josh loved the breakfast buffet in the mornings, and I liked The Shop, a 24-hour grab-and-go retail shop where you can get snacks and drinks at any time of day.

We enjoyed a fun happy hour and sit-down dinner, where the hotel team showcased core Hilton Garden Inn menu items, served with a Greenville twist. All of these dishes showcased Hilton Garden Inn Greenville’s customized menu and locally sourced ingredients that reflected Southern flavors.

First, we tried a new specialty cocktail, created by actress Judy Greer, which is available on Hilton Garden Inn menus nationwide.

A fresh twist on the classic Daisy, Judy’s Garden Gin is simple, delicate, yet bursting with flavor. It combines gin, lemon juice, Chambord, and a touch of simple syrup. I loved the pretty pink color, and it was light enough for a pre-dinner drink.

Then we moved onto dinner. I particularly liked the Citrus Salmon Bowl. Picture grilled salmon atop a healthy blend of quinoa, wild rice, and barley, all of which are melded with fire-roasted peppers and a smoky yogurt that adds a subtle tang.

Josh savored the Sticky Finger Ribs with a local whiskey-soy BBQ sauce that was flavorful and chock-full of herbs.

Of course, we never skimp out on dessert. We indulged on a nationwide guest favorite, the Mason Jar Chocolate Fudge Cake. It was the definition of indulgent.

The Sous Vide Butter Pecan Creme Brûlée was luscious and smooth. I liked that the butter pecan flavor wasn’t too overwhelming. There’s something very satisfying about cracking into the caramelized sugar top.

8. Spill the Beans

531 S Main St, Greenville, SC 29601, map

I’m always on the hunt for the best local coffee shop and Spill the Beans did not disappoint. The cafe is cozy and filled with the sweet smell of homemade waffle cones (yes, they also serve ice cream!).

We tried one of their signature drinks, the Maffioso, consisting of deep, roasty espresso, milk, and a smooth caramel finish. It was very reminiscent of a Carmello candy bar.

Spill the Beans Greenville SC Places to Eat

9. Strossner’s Bakery, Cafe & Deli

21 Roper Mountain Rd, Greenville, SC 29607, map

Everything is made from scratch, so you know that quality is *chef’s kiss*. Locals love their quiches and crepes and we love that they offer plenty of gluten free options.

10. Takosushi

34 S Main St, Greenville, SC 29601, map

Picking between tacos and sushi is always a difficult choice. It’s great that Takosushi has both. Get that side of queso with your spicy tuna roll, because you can.

Takosushi Greenville SC

11. Soby’s New South Cuisine

207 S Main St, Greenville, SC 29601, map

Soby’s New South Cuisine was another booth we visited at the Fall for Greenville festival. Their crab cake truly set the expectations for the rest of our time there. It was a blend of jumbo lump crab over a creamy corn remoulade. I topped it off with a dash of hot sauce.

Everyone there was super friendly, too. Talk about southern hospitality!

Soby's Greenville SC

12. Jamaica Mi Irie

28 S Main St, Greenville, SC 29601, map

Jaimaica Mi Irie is a Main Street veteran serving up authentic Jamaican favorites. We had their jerk wings and jerk pork, both of which were cooked to perfection. The portion sizes are pleasing without making you feel in need of your stretchy pants. This place does not serve your run-of-the-mill food!

Local Tip: Everything on their menu is under $15.

13. The Lazy Goat

170 Riverplace, Greenville, SC 29601, map

Located next to the Hampton Inn by Hilton, The Lazy Goat came highly recommended by a local we met at our hotel bar. We were looking for good Mediterranean food and decided to pick up a couple of things to try.

Everything was super fresh, and out of everything we tried, the toasted shrimp and Brussels sprouts were my favorite. They have a large patio that overlooks the Reedy River, great for people watching.

Local Tip: You’ve got to try the fried goat cheese! It’s dusted with pistachio crumbles and drizzled in honey. It’s the perfect combination of sweet and savory. – Kelly, Greenville local of 12 years.

These are the best places to eat in Las Vegas.

Dining in Las Vegas has come a long way over the years and is clearly now one of the premier foodie destinations in the world. Cruising up and down The Strip, you’re constantly hit with billboards of the who’s who of celebrity chefs.

While that’s pretty awesome, there’s way more to Vegas than just “The Boulevard”! Amazing food can now be found in literally any direction. So whether you’re looking to dine like a baller or a pauper and everything in between, one thing is for sure…. you’ll never leave this city hungry!

We’ve broken the restaurants down by neighborhood below.

49 Best Places to Eat in Las Vegas

The Strip (North)

  1.  Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen (Caesars Palace, New American, 💰💰💰) – Opt for their prix fixe menu, including their famous Beef Wellington. Adding foie gras is worth it.
  2.  Bazaar Meat (SLS, Steakhouses, 💰💰💰💰) – Get a group together and order the whole suckling pig. At $540, you must order it days in advance, and it will feed six people. It’s one of the best restaurants the Las Vegas strip has to offer.
  3.  Bacchanal Buffet (Caesars Palace, Buffets, 💰💰💰) – When listing the best Las Vegas food on the strip, you must include buffets. This is the biggest buffet in buffet history. With over 500 items, this is a feast of epic proportions.
  4.  Nobu (Caesars Palace, Japanese, 💰💰💰💰) – They’re located in most major cities, but this location touts the most expansive menu of any Nobu. They put miso-marinated black cod on the culinary map and why it’s still the standard.
  5.  Tacos El Gordo (The Strip, Mexican, 💰) – The busiest restaurant in Vegas after 2 a.m., and one of the best places to eat in Las Vegas on a budget. The Adobada keeps everyone coming back.
  6.  Joe’s Seafood Prime Steak and Stone Crab (Caesars Palace, Seafood, 💰💰💰) – Stone crab season runs from 10/15-4/15, so get them fresh.
  7.  Sushi Roku (Caesars Palace, Japanese, 💰💰💰) – While officially no longer on the menu, they still make their yellowtail foie gras upon request. Thank me later.
  8.  Yardbird & Southern Table (Venetian, Southern, 💰💰) – You’ll probably never spend more on fried chicken, but you’ll learn why it’s a Las Vegas must-eat.
  9.  Bouchon (Venetian, French, 💰💰💰) – Thomas Keller offers a fantastic brunch, and the “Poulet et des Gaufres” guarantees that you will have an awesome day.
  10.  Mizumi (Wynn, Japanese, 💰💰💰💰) – The otoro and Kobe beef melts in your mouth. The best seats overlook the lake.

The Strip (South)

  1.  Joël Robuchon (MGM Grand, French, 💰💰💰💰) – Joel Robuchon is the “Chef of the Century” by the guide Gault Millau. His famous 16-course dinner may bust some bank accounts, but it is incredible. The “Le Boeuf” is decadence defined. One of the best-tasting menus on the strip.
  2.  Picasso (Bellagio, French, 💰💰💰💰) – Whether dining inside surrounded by original works of Pablo Picasso or outdoor patio viewing the Fountains of Bellagio, it’s a win-win. I’ve never tasted a greater scallop than their “Pan Seared U-10 Day Boat Scallop with Potato Maousseline and Jus de Veau”.
  3.  E by José Andrés (Cosmopolitan, Spanish, 💰💰💰💰) – You must request reservations online for this incredible 20+ course dinner, and then they send out golden tickets via mail in a wax-sealed envelope. That’s only where the Willy Wonka comparisons start because the food is so cutting-edge and creative, I expected some oompa loompas to come out and serve dessert!
  4.  Harvest by Roy Ellamar (Bellagio, American, 💰💰💰) – No butter or lemon is necessary for their incredible roasted Maine lobster. (only open Fri + Sat)
  5.  Gordon Ramsay Steak (Paris, Steakhouses, 💰💰💰) – The most famous chef on TV backs up his reputation with his beef wellington. Eyeballs will roll back.
  6.  BARDOT Brasserie (ARIA, French, 💰💰💰) – Super cute restaurant with French-inspired food. We went for brunch and enjoyed everything.
  7.  Momofuku (The Cosmopolitan, Asian Fusion, 💰💰) – Established by David Chang, Momofuku features steamed buns, noodles, and meat and seafood dishes meant for sharing. Best to go with a group.
  8.  Hakkasan (MGM Grand, Cantonese, 💰💰💰💰) – One of the fanciest spots for Chinese on the Strip. Their “Roasted Chilean seabass with Chinese honey” is fantastic.
  9.  Wicked Spoon (Cosmopolitan, Buffet, 💰💰💰) – Another quintessential Vegas Dining experience that rivals bacchanal for best buffet on the Strip.

Spring Valley

  1.  The Magic Noodle (Spring Valley, 💰💰) – Tasty hand-pulled and hand-cut noodle dishes.
  2. Other Mama (Spring Valley, Sushi Bars, 💰💰) – Their “Whole Grilled Branzino” is an epic dish. So good in fact, I eat the eyeballs every time.
  3.  DW Bistro (Spring Valley, American, 💰💰) – Their blend of Jamaican and New Mexican flavors is a symphony for taste buds. The “Jerk Pork” dinner consisting of roasted pork shoulder, velouté pan sauce, and sweet potato mash is marvelous.
  4.  Rosallie (Spring Valley, French, 💰💰) – If butter were to send a love letter, it would come in the form of their plain croissant. Outstanding!

Downtown Las Vegas

  1. Park on Fremont (Downtown, American, 💰💰) – This was our favorite spot on Fremont street, where we stop by to scarf down the Philly Mac’n’cheesteak, which perfectly mashes up to be the perfect comfort food (pictured below).
  2.  Esther’s Kitchen (Italian, 💰💰) – You can’t make a best food in Las Vegas list without Esther’s Kitchen. All the pastas are amazing.
  3.  Pizza Rock (Downtown, Pizza, 💰💰) – one of the best Vegas lunch spots. Tony Gemignani is a 12-time world pizza champion, and his Napoletana-style Margherita pizza won the World Pizza Cup in Naples, Italy. They only make 73 of them a day, so get there early.
  4.  Carson Kitchen (Downtown, New American, 💰💰) – Carson Kitchen is one of the best local restaurants in Las Vegas. The crispy chicken skins served with smoked honey are the only way to start a meal here.
  5.  Market Street Café (Downtown, California Hotel & Casino, American, 💰) – This café attracts the masses with their famous oxtail soup, available only from 11 pm-9 am (not a typo).
  6.  The Goodwich (Downtown, Sandwiches, 💰💰) – Out-of-this-world sandwiches! Get the pig o’ the week.
  7.  Eat (Downtown, New American, 💰💰) – Eat Las Vegas serves down-home American classics made with locally sourced and sustainable ingredients.

Chinatown

  1.  District One (Chinatown, Asian Fusion, 💰💰) – They serve traditional and elevated Vietnamese dishes and are famous for their lobster pho and Instagram-worthy big bone soup.
  2.  Noodlehead (Chinatown, Noodles, 💰💰) – Delicious handmade noodles daily. Our faves are the Yibin Burning Noodle and Beef Rolls.
  3.  Ramen Hashi (Chinatown, Ramen, 💰💰) – The Tori Paitan is our favorite ramen in town!
  4.  Hobak (Chinatown, Korean, 💰💰) – This successful Korean BBQ chain recently opened up its first one outside their homeland in Las Vegas and is already the best in town. The “Hobak Aged Short Ribs” makes a convincing argument.
  5.  Ramen Sora (Chinatown, Ramen, 💰) – Going with Miso, Shoyu, or Shio broth is your call, but their deluxe ramen with extra chashu is the only call. One of the best spots on Spring Mountain.
  6.  China Mama (Chinatown, Chinese, 💰💰) – Try the Crispy Beef, Dry Pepper Chicken, and Beef Rolls. It’s our go-to takeout during the holidays.

Westside

  1. Oyster Bar @ Palace Station (Westside, Seafood, 💰💰) – Typically makes the list on all travel guides and is a must-eat in Vegas. The combo pan roast is a creamy tomato stew with shrimp, lobster, and crab, which is why the average wait for a seat is over an hour. They have them in a few other station casinos, too, and they are much less busy.
  2.  Shang Artisan Noodle (Westside, Noodles, 💰💰) – Their noodles are made to order and delicious whether hand-pulled or knife-shaved. The “Shang Beef Noodle Soup” is their signature bowl, and the beef pancakes are incredibly juicy and an excellent starter. It’s a spot we frequent as locals eating in Las Vegas. They also have a location at Durango Casino now.
  3.  20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (Westside, Pre Fixe, 💰💰💰💰) – One of the most unique dining experiences we’ve ever done. The food was spectacular, there was a tone of drinks, and the storytelling made it memorable. Check out our Instagram Reel here.
  4.  Honey Salt (Westside, New American, 💰💰) – Farm-to-table food. A fave brunch spot.
  5.  Paina Cafe (Westside, Poke, Hawaiian, Donuts, 💰) – The poke is okay, but the mochi donuts are the best in town! We stop by every time we’re in the area, and even though a few more mochi donut spots have opened in Vegas, they are still our favorite.

South

  1. Ton Ton Katsuya (South Spring Valley) Japanese, 💰💰) – This is the only legit spot in the city turning out deliciously deep-fried and breaded Japanese katsu. The pork tenderloin dinner is the star of the menu and why we think it’s one of the best restaurants in Las Vegas.
  2.  Sushi House Goyemon (Southwest, Japanese, 💰💰) – They serve up some of the best all-you-can-eat sushi anywhere and offer daily fresh catch specials on the board like salmon belly, mentaiko, and grilled yellowtail collar.
  3.  Pullman Bread (Southwest, Japanese Bakery, 💰) – Delicious baked goods and light and fluffy egg sandos. Open 24 hours.
  4.  Suzuya Pastries and Crepes (Southwest, Desserts, 💰) – I love everything here, but the Yuzu Panna Cotta is a must-try.
  5.  Island Flavor (Hawaiian, 💰) – When people ask us what the best food in Vegas is, Island Flavor always makes the list. Their furikake chicken is so addictive. If you ask any Hawaiian who lives in Vegas where to eat, this will likely be on their list. They do have multiple locations.

Other Locations

  1.  Naked City Pizza (Eastside, Pizza, 💰💰) – Their “Royal Sub” with in-house hot Italian sausage, capicola, mozzarella, iceberg lettuce, and tomato is a fat kid’s dream come true.
  2.  Aloha Kitchen* (University, Hawaiian, 💰) – Vegas is home to some spectacular Hawaiian food. Their Adobo Fried Rice Omelette is a must-eat in Las Vegas. Everything else there is just okay.
  3.  Kame (Northeast, Japanese, 💰💰💰💰)  – Chef Eric serves up extremely creative omakase course dinners on the daily. The lobster tail sashimi is a consistent highlight.

Lip Smacking Foodie Tour

If you have a hard time deciding where to eat, want to taste the best dishes at multiple restaurants, or want an exclusive dining experience without the wait, check out Lip Smacking Foodie Tours. They offer multiple tours that cover everything from the Aria, Venetian, Wynn, Resorts World, Fontainebleau, the Arts District, and Fremont East. We did their Savors of the Strip Aria tour last month. Their guides not only ensure that you are well fed, but they also give you insight and plenty of tips about Vegas.

We started off at Javier’s dining in their private room, which normally has a $5000 minimum. We then headed over to Julian Serrano Tapas, where they made our group their signature Paella, and then ended at Mastro’s Ocean Club. At each restaurant, we tried their most popular dishes. It was so much food; our bellies were very full by the end.

The overall experience was great! We walked into each restaurant like VIPs, and if you have any dietary restrictions, they can accommodate you. Esther chose no dairy, and we had a pescatarian in our group, too. We had such a great experience, we can’t wait to try another tour soon!

Eating Healthy in Las Vegas / Meal Prep Las Vegas

As much as we love eating while traveling, we also have fitness goals we want to keep and want to stay healthy. It’s hard to eat healthy when you eat out all the time. We were excited to find Foodie Fit, which we use when we’re home between our busy travel schedules. I wish they could come with us too!

Started by a nutrition coach, Foodie Fit is a healthy meal prep and delivery company that makes it easy to stay healthy and still get your macros. Each of their meals has all the macros listed on it, making it easy to keep track of your goals. On top of that, most of their meals have a lean vs. a bulk option that you can choose between depending on your goals. Best of all, they rotate through different recipes, so you’re not stuck eating the same meal repeatedly.

If you’re visiting Las Vegas, this is an excellent option since they deliver all over town, including the strip! You can still indulge in some meals and use Foodie Fit meals to stay balanced. We’ve been trying different ones, but our favorites are the Mongolian Beef with Roasted Veggies and Thai Basil Turkey so far.

We worked with local David Bubb to bring you the best places to eat in Washington DC.

Our nation’s capital hasn’t always stayed perched on its toes when it comes to providing locals with top notch, high quality, and creative food, but that has changed here recently.

Though DC looms big on the map, the city is quite small. You can feel the pride and love for this city by its people. The restaurants are owned and fueled by local people with fierce passion and identity to their place, many who have left their mentors to claim their own identity.

Many say that in 2016, DC finally arrived to hold a place on the national food scene shared by NYC, LA, and SF. Though they have been the underdog for a long time coming, those days are over.
