This week we wanted to share a few quick tips that you can apply to take better underwater photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/591\/21276481332_dbb4770a42_o.jpg\" alt=\"5 Quick Underwater Photography Tips for Better Travel Photos.\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5 Quick Underwater Photography Tips to Get Better Travel Photos:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Get Up Close<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Get as close to your subjects as you can. Water absorbs light, so the farther away you are, the duller the photo will be. The closer you are, the sharper and clearer it will be. Be Alert and Be Patient<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Nature photography already requires a lot of patience because you have no control over your subjects. Whether you\u2019re snorkeling or diving, you want to be ready and alert. Once you find your subject, take some shots, but don\u2019t move on immediately. Patiently wait to see if they move to a different spot that might make an even better photo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This guy camouflaged himself so well that I was the only one who noticed him as he slowly crawled on the ocean floor. We waited for him to get to a good spot before taking this photo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/617\/21100304409_3c4a1e970f_o.jpg\" alt=\"5 Quick Underwater Photography Tips for Better Travel Photos.\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.&nbsp;Be Familiar with All Your Gear<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You are visiting their world. Before you start shooting, be sure you\u2019re comfortable with all your gear. When you&#8217;re in the water, you should be less focused on how to use your gear and more focused on respecting the environment you&#8217;re in, making sure you stay safe, and taking epic photos. ;)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5750\/20666150703_1bf749db70_o.jpg\" alt=\"5 Quick Underwater Photography Tips for Better Travel Photos.\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;4. Shoot at an Upwards Angle<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Shooting at a slightly upward angle makes the photo much more interesting and adds depth. We\u2019ve noticed that shooting down at the fish doesn&#8217;t make the most interesting photos. We really love the half-in and half-out of the water shots too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5637\/21260608106_feb1d78af3_o.jpg\" alt=\"5 Quick Underwater Photography Tips for Better Travel Photos.\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/639\/21294993501_1028f2da62_o.jpg\" alt=\"5 Quick Underwater Photography Tips for Better Travel Photos.\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/642\/20665751513_518d1398ac_o.jpg\" alt=\"5 Underwater Photography Tips for Better Travel Photos.\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Use a Filter<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Water naturally absorbs red, so photos look more blue or green. Use a red or magenta filter (see which one you should use <a href=\"http:\/\/localadventurer.com\/underwater-photography-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>) to make editing easier later! We didn&#8217;t do this on our recent trip to Turks and Caicos, and I am kicking myself! The editing is taking me forever!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">BONUS:&nbsp;Clean Your Gear<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t invest in a bunch of gear to just let it go to waste. It\u2019s important to clean and maintain all the gear the way you are instructed to. You should also double-check everything before you take it underwater again.
